Christiane Zschommler was born in East Berlin, where she was a self-taught documentary photographer. She moved to London in the early 90’s, here she achieved a first class honours degree in Photography at the University of Westminster.
Since leaving college, Christiane has exhibited at the Association Gallery (1998), Well Hung Gallery, London (1999) and the Dostoyevshy Museum, St.Petersburg (1999). She has also won awards for her work including the London Photographic Award in 1998 and third prize in the BJP/Portrait Award.
Christiane is inspired and drawn to constantly changing patterns, working in a medium format on photographic film; she focuses on texture, colour and abstraction, producing an image with depth and a sense of mystery. More recent works capture the visual effects of water and its surroundings.
