Emma Newman describes herself as a designer, rather than an artist. Most of her work is mixed media, which she finds exciting to use. She takes her material from old and new photography, books and interesting imagery, which she then manipulates - and completes the canvas with paint. Various influences are evident in her work, ranging from the artists Peter Blake and Ben Nicholson to Street Art and retro ads. She also finds ideas just watching people on the street, and her work often has an urban element to it. Emma is a highly versatile artist, and likes to work in a variety of different styles to keep her mind and motivation fresh.
